Series of individual books each focused on learning, internalizing and utilizing chord tones by application to a tune frequently played in jam sessions.

Valuable Features Include:

  • Progressive and comprehensive ‘learn by doing’ approach from novice to experienced level
  • Written for SmartMusic that gives students immediate visual feedback of their pitch and rhythmic accuracy on their computer or tablet, a grade and an audio recording. Students can practice and record an exercise/solo as many times as they like and then submit the audio recording, grade, and screen shot to their teacher. SmartMusic will compile the grades and their averages in a grade book available to the teacher.
  • Most exercises have repeated rhythms to help the student become comfortable with playing rhythms that     feel good and allow them to concentrate on learning, internalizing and ingraining the chord tones and concepts   of how to use the them.
  • Four different professionally recorded great sounding playalong tracks for each tune:       1 — piano, bass drums;  2 — guitar, bass, drums;  3 — B3, drums;  4 — bass, drums for variety
  • Exercises include the concepts of approach notes, enclosures, forward motion, passing tones, permutations, syncopation, and voice leading and solos demonstrating use of these
  • Hyperlinks to detailed explanations of the above concepts, plus how to practice, playing with spirit and suggested listening
  • Available for ALL instruments and vocalists (including oboe, bassoon, tuba and viola)
The F Blues and F Blues Walking Bass Line Construction books were released in the fall of 2020.

Upcoming books currently in development phase include Strong 4 My Fodder, Can’t Elope On Land, Sh’wat, Waiter Male and Man, Per Deed Dough and Bb Blues. Also being drafted are All the Dings in Your Car, C minor Blues, Auto Man Sleeves, Bb Rhythm Changes, Brew Lhasa, Staten Tall, Make the A Frame, Some Are Thyme  and Shoe Car and along with many Walking Bass Line books.

Randy Brecker
- “This Series of Books, all so well organized and presented, getting straight to the point in all exercises, is a must for beginners as well as professional musicians. Written for SmartMusic which allows for immediate feedback, and also utilizing all available 21st-century technologies, Bob Sinicrope has set a new standard for teaching Jazz, literally finding new "Pathways Towards Greatness" always with "Building a Foundation" in mind. Not to be missed.”

Gordon Goodwin - “Bob Sinicrope has produced a wonderfully comprehensive method for learning to improvise that breaks new ground in how to explain and instruct students trying to understand this elusive artform. His Pathways Towards Greatness series distills the many elements involved in spontaneous creativity into understandable blocks, taking the student a step at a time as they assemble the tools and skill sets needed to be an effective improviser. Bob approaches the topic from both a right and left brain point of view, with an appropriate balance between the musical nuts and bolts required and the intuitive and innate perspective that is so important when playing music. Highly recommended!”
