Rhythm
The more upbeats you have in the music, the more it swings. - Dizzy Gillespie
This wonderful quote reinforces the all-important concept of musical ‘tension and release.’ Playing syncopated (upbeat) notes creates rhythmic tension. Tension seeks resolution and this requires movement and flow in the music. Repeated rhythms, many of which are syncopated, are an inherent and crucial aspect of the method offered here in Pathways. rhythms are highly repetitive to help you become comfortable with them and help you “upload” them into your subconscious memory bank, ready to retrieve if you so choose.
